Australian Church Women, NSW State Unit - From Annual Report 2005
2005 was a very busy and rewarding year for the unit.  We are so thankful for the help and guidance given by God our Heavenly Father in all the year’s activities and for the National Conference.

The Conference was held over six days in October at the Salvation Army Conference Centre at Collaroy.

I enjoyed being part of the National Executive and the preparation of the conference.  It was great to see MU members from other states at the National Conference.  “Forward together in Christ” was the theme with an invitation to “Come and Celebrate”:

§         40 years of Aust. Church Women

§         20th National Conference

§         40 years of Winifred Kiek Scholarships.

§         50 years of Fellowship of the Least Coin.

Major Lyn Middleton spoke on the theme using Ephesians Chapter 4 as her text and encouraged us as a church to be all moving heavenward to the one hope to which we have been called.  The aim is for the Church to move forward in building a better world, to produce men and women who have in them the reflection of Jesus Christ himself.  The goal of a world redeemed in Christ is to move forward to Christian maturity.

Dr Esther Byu, Exec. secretary for the Fellowhip of the Least Coin posed questions including How do we measure the impact of the Fellowship of the Least Coin? And encouraged us to deepen our faith to trust that our little coins will make a difference.

Rev. Valamotu Palu, Gen. Secretary from Pacific Conference of Churches reminded us that we are celebrating the fact that so many women had succeeded in their ministries through the assistance and support of the Winifred Kiek Scholarships and so many lives had been touched.  She encouraged us to do mission together in order to do what God calls us to do…-Come and celebrate and go forward together in Christ.

MU members in Sydney will be pleased to note that Mina Whybourne has been entered in the 2005 edition of the Memorial Bursary Book, now called “Honouring Australian Church Women” (Proceeds from this Book provides books for WKS scholars). One comment in the profile entry mentions reads “Mina has been an outstanding ambassador for Christ through her gentle and loving concern for all those around her” It also mentions Mina’s MU, GFS and ACW service.  Mina represented MU Australia at the Conference and presented the MU report.
