Mrs Sandra Hugo

I was born in Cremorne and grew up in Canley Vale, Randwick, and North Strathfield where we attended St Andrew's Anglican Church. I attended the Conservatorium High School where I studied piano and flute. Since I am deaf in one ear I did not pass the medical exam for teaching, so instead studied law at Sydney University and practised as a solicitor until I had my fourth child and became too busy.

I married my husband George in 1970 and we have 4 children and 3 grandchildren. George is an Accountant with his own practice and I have helped him with his business over the years. We tried several times to retire from the business and hope it will finally happen next year.

I became a Diocesan member since the branch of which I was a member closed, and I found it difficult to attend meetings at other branches nearby since I am also caring for my Mum who lives with us.

I have been a member of MU for 37 years and have enjoyed various positions both at branch and diocesan levels. I have also enjoyed the contact with other women's organisations through MU.
