Approximately 85 ladies attended the morning tea held at St Thomas' Enfield. From the comments received, they all enjoyed the Middle Eastern morning tea, which related to the theme "Who is my Neighbour?". There was a positive response to the Lebanese cakes and the Kefta (Lebanese bread with spicy lamb filling).
Our speaker, Margaret, introduced her talk with the story of the Good Samaritan. She then spoke to the ladies who were present about her work with women and children from other cultures, and for our need to meet these ladies with an attitude of respectful friendship - just a smile or a short conversation. Margaret thanks you all for your generous contributions to the launch of a new group for children, called "Junior Jivers", and asked for prayer for this venture.
The ladies were also encouraged to take the packs we had assembled in the form of a card in the shape of a teapot with a tea bag, and a craft bag that included a sewn bag with a bird to blanket stitch around and ribbons for a tie. It was suggested that they use the bag, complete with chocolates, soap or powder inside and give it to a friend or neighbour. Margaret suggested that if they had Muslim neighbours, it was an acceptable gift for them if the bag was filled with sweets, as the period of Ramadan was approaching.
We also enjoyed hearing Narelle Whitson as she shared her gift of music with us and sang "If I can help somebody" and "Make me a channel of your peace."
From reports already received, those who came along enjoyed the day, the opportunity to learn from Margaret and share time with friends over morning tea.
